Foreign legal aid / Cross border disputes

If you are resident outside of Ireland and have court proceedings or a legal dispute in Ireland, you may be entitled to legal aid. You should apply through the appropriate authority in the country in which you are resident. The application will then be sent to the Board for consideration.

If you are resident in Ireland and are party to a dispute in another European Union country, you can apply to the Board and the Board will transmit an application for legal aid on your behalf to that other country. You will need to complete the application form, which may be accessed below. The application form should be sent to Legal Services Section, Legal Aid Board, Quay Street, Cahirciveen, Co Kerry.
