5. How do I apply for legal advice or aid?
You must complete an application form, including information about your means, and send it to your local law centre.
The law centre will arrange with you to carry out a financial assessment. If you are financially eligible, your name may be placed on a waiting list for an appointment with a solicitor.
The Board is committed to providing legal services to all applicants within a maximum period of four months from the date on which a fully completed application form is received. In many law centres the waiting period is considerable shorter. Your local law centre will advise you of the current position.
