8. What kind of training courses does the Refugee Documentation Centre offer?
Face to face training:The RDC offers Country of Origin Information (COI) training courses to staff of the Legal Aid Board; the Refugee Legal Service, the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner, Refugee Appeals Tribunal, Ministerial Decision Unit and other agencies of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. Solicitors and Barristers on the Refugee Legal Service panel may also avail of training.
The COI training programme addresses how to conduct research which results in relevant, reliable and balanced, accurate and up-to-date information. Training courses may be tailored to suit specific needs and workshops can take between 3 hours and 2 days depending on requirements. The computer-based trainings use research exercises and case studies derived from daily COI work. A comprehensive training manual is provided.
