Refugee Documentation Centre FAQs

9. How can I phrase a query to get the best possible information?
The function of the RDC is to provide relevant, reliable, balanced, accurate and verifiable, as well as transparent, country of origin information.
When submitting a request to the RDC it should be phrased in an impartial and neutral manner. It is not the role of the RDC to pronounce on issues and contradictory information will be explicitly pointed out. The response from the RDC will be impartial with no appraisal of, or commentary on, the information that could influence the person requesting it. The RDC will not use language that suggests a legal assessment or judgment – for example, “confirm/deny”, “persecution”, “extreme”, or “atrocious”.
