3. What services will I receive from the RLS?
The RLS will provide you with a confidential and independent legal service, if you qualify under the means test.
You will be provided with legal advice and assistance at all stages of the asylum process. The RLS will:
> provide advice to you before you submit your questionnaire to the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner or before you attend your interview with staff in that Office;
> make written submissions to the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner in support of your application for asylum;
> provide a solicitor or barrister to represent you before the Refugee Appeals Tribunal;
> assist you in making submissions for leave to remain or for subsidiary protection, if your application for refugee status is refused;
> provide interpreters to attend appointments at the RLS;
> provide advice and representation if you are detained under section 9(8) of the Refugee Act; and
> provide advice and assistance in relation to deportation orders and judicial review applications.
