Registering for family mediation (all issues)

The Board, through its family mediation service, offers clients the opportunity to negotiate their own terms of agreement within a structure that helps them look at their own needs and interests and needs and interests of their partner and any children they may have.  For an appointment both parties must contact the family mediation service voluntarily and confirm that they are both willing to attend.

The LABFMS database can be accessed by clicking on “New FMS Clients” on the portal page to launch the database.

When a client expresses an interest in availing of mediation, register them for our service by selecting the office the clients wish to attend (by clicking “Change Office” a drop down option is available of all LABFMS offices).  Select “create new case”. Enter P1s name ONLY and choose the “All Issues” from the home page.  This case is assigned a reference number with “AN” tag. 

The ONLY details required from P1 at initial phone call are P1’s name, address and phone number. This case is placed on the “Pending” list.  No details are taken for P2 at this point.  Please use “unknown” for P2’s name.  Ensure P1 is given case reference number as this is used as case identification when P2 makes contact.
